Population Structure and Genetic Diversity Analysis in Sugarcane (Saccharum spp. hybrids) and Six Related Saccharum Species

چکیده
Sugarcane (Saccharum spp. hybrids) is one of the most important commercial crops for sugar, ethanol, and other byproducts production; therefore, it great significance to carry out genetic research. Assessing population structure diversity plays a vital role in managing resources gene mapping. In this study, we assessed among 196 Saccharum accessions, including 34 S. officinarum, 69 spontaneum, 17 robustum, 25 barberi, 13 sinense, 2 edule, 36 hybrids. A total 624 polymorphic SSR alleles were amplified by PCR with 22 pairs fluorescence-labeled highly primers identified on capillary electrophoresis (CE) detection system 109 new alleles. Three approaches (model-based clustering, principal component analysis, phylogenetic analysis) conducted analyses. The results showed that accessions could be grouped into either three (Q) or eight (q) sub-populations. Phylogenetic analysis indicated from each species merged. barberi sinense formed group. sugarcane hybrids merged second officinarum third group located between two groups. Two-way chi-square tests derived 24 species-specific species-associated alleles, four five robustum. These will have wide application value breeding identification. overall provide useful information future study genus efficient utilization germplasm breeding.

Genetic diversity and relationships in native Hawaiian Saccharum officinarum sugarcane.
Commercial sugarcane hybrid cultivars currently in production are high-yielding, disease-resistant, millable canes and are the result of years of breeding work. In Hawaii, these commercial hybrids are quite distinct from many Saccharum officinarum canes still in existence that were brought to the islands and cultivated by the native Polynesians. The actual genetic relationships among the native...

Focus has centered on C-partitioning in stems of sugarcane (Saccharum sp.) due to their high-sucrose accumulation features, relevance to other grasses, and rising economic value. Here we review how sugarcane balances between sucrose storage, respiration, and cell wall biosynthesis. The specific topics involve (1) accumulation of exceptionally high sucrose levels (up to over 500 mM), (2) a poten...
متن کاملPromoting Utilization of Saccharum spp. Genetic Resources through Genetic Diversity Analysis and Core Collection Construction
Sugarcane (Saccharum spp.) and other members of Saccharum spp. are attractive biofuel feedstocks. One of the two World Collections of Sugarcane and Related Grasses (WCSRG) is in Miami, FL. This WCSRG has 1002 accessions, presumably with valuable alleles for biomass, other important agronomic traits, and stress resistance. However, the WCSRG has not been fully exploited by breeders due to its la...
